Questions

Poll creation FAQ.

How do I start a poll in Slack?

Install CleanPoll to your workspace, then run /cleanpoll in any channel, use the "Create poll" message shortcut, or open it from the shortcuts menu.

Can I edit a poll after it's published?

You can add missing options after publishing if that setting is enabled. The question and existing options are locked once the poll is live, so double-check them in the preview step before publishing.

Can people vote for more than one option?

Yes, if you turn on multi-vote when configuring the poll. You can also cap how many options each person may choose, or leave it as a single-vote poll.

How do I make a poll anonymous?

Turn on anonymous responses in the poll settings before publishing. Individual votes stay hidden while totals still update for everyone.

Can a poll close automatically?

Yes. Set an auto-close time when creating the poll and CleanPoll will close it and post the final results for you.

How do I export the results?

Open the poll's results and download them as a CSV file at any time, before or after it closes.

Does Slack have a built-in poll feature?

No, Slack doesn't ship a native poll feature. You need an app like CleanPoll installed to create one, then you publish it with the /cleanpoll command or the "Create poll" shortcut.

Can I create a poll in a Slack DM or group chat, not just a channel?

Yes. When you publish a poll, you can send it to a channel, a direct message, or a group DM — the same modal and settings apply everywhere.

Is a Slack vote the same as a Slack poll?

Yes, people use "vote" and "poll" interchangeably in Slack. A CleanPoll poll is how teammates cast their vote: everyone picks an option and the tally updates in real time.

Is there a slash command syntax to remember for Slack polls?

No syntax to memorize. Typing /cleanpoll opens a guided modal where you fill in the question, options, and settings, instead of formatting a command by hand.
